新一届理事会（2002-2003）发表了一份给校友的信。现发表于下：

亲 爱 的 校 友 ，
尽 管 硅 谷 经 济 仍 然 在 低 谷 徘 徊 ， 对 我 们 的 生 活 或 多 或 少
有 所 影 响 。 但 是 大 家 没 有 必 要 关 门 闭 户 ， 躲 进 自 己 的 世 界 。 反 而 现 在 正 是 时 候 扩 展 你 的 人 际 网 络 ， 现 在 正 是 时
候 平 衡 你 的 生 活 和 事 业 ， 现 在 正 是 时 候 让 你 重 新 思 考 ，
探 索 新 的 机 会 。
这 就 是 新 当 选 的 中 国 科 大 硅 谷 校 友 会 理 事 会 的 新 使 命 。
我 们 将 致 力 于 在 湾 区 建 造 强 大 的 校 友 网 络 ， 大 家 互 相 帮
助 实 现 你 的 梦 想 ， 使 中 国 科 大 成 为 人 人 引 以 自 豪 和 向 往
的 标 志 。
具 体 来 说 ， 中 国 科 大 硅 谷 校 友 会 理 事 会 成 员 将 分 工 负 责
， 实 现 以 下 目 标 ：
(1) 经 常 组 织 丰 富 多 彩 的 联 谊 活 动 ；
(2) 为 下 岗 校 友 提 供 更 有 效 的 帮 助 ；
(3) 帮 助 校 友 增 强 技 术 实 力 和 创 业 才 能 ；
(4) 提 高 中 国 科 大 在 硅 谷 社 区 的 声 望 ；
(5) 促 进 校 友 与 中 国 科 大 的 学 术 交 流 ；
(6) 加 强 校 友 与 中 国 科 大 的 联 络 和 感 情 。

Time to have fun, get networked, and grow!
---- the mission of USTCAA in Silicon Valley
Dear USTCers,
With the continuing sluggish economy in the valley,
all our lives have been impacted one way or another.
It is not time to roll yourself back, rather it is
time to grow your network, it is time to balance
your life, it is time to explore new opportunities
with fresh perspectives.
That will be the mission of the newly elected Board
of Directors of the USTC Alumni Association in Silicon
Valley. We will make effort to build a strong network
among alumni in Bay area where we can help each other
reaching our best potentials, to make USTC a powerful
brand name that we are all proud to associate with.
In specific, we will be working in the following
areas, one or more directors will be dedicated to each
task:
1. Organizing more frequent fun-packed networking
events -- the very first party will be held on
December 14, 2002;
2. Providing more effective help to alumni between
jobs;
3. Helping alumni grow technical strength and
entrepreneur skills;
4. Building powerful USTC brand name in valley
community;
5. Promoting effective academic exchange with USTC;
6. Strengthening relationship between alumni and USTC.

suggestions on any of the issues, please contact the

With your participation, USTCers will be one of the
