美国University of Toledo物理系邓勋明教授，是该大学专利委员会主席，他还是美国Midwest Optoelectronics, LLC (MWOE)公司负责人。邓勋明博士1985年在中国科学技术大学取得理学学士学位，1990年在美国芝加哥大学取得博士学位。邓勋明博士的主要研究方向是太阳能燃料电池，他是这一领域的知名国际学者，曾屡次受邀在IEEE相关国际大会上做邀请报告，他们研制开发一种新的用太阳能分解水来制氢的技术，这种无污染的能源将来可以大规模地用在燃料电池(Fuel cell)里以驱动机动车辆。他在Appl. Phys. Lett.等杂志上发表学术论文一百来篇，并且取得了5项美国国家发明专利。

Research Issues in Wireless Mesh Networks
Prof. Chunming Qiao
Abstract:
Several challenging research issues arising from wireless mesh networking are presented, including issues in 802.11 mesh access networks, hierarchical 802.11 and 802.16 meshes, meshed Radio Access Networks (RAN) in cellular systems, meshed (wireless and wireline) backhaul networks, and finally, meshed multi-channel, multi-interface ad hoc, community networks. The description of the open research problems and general approaches based on e.g., graph theory and algorithms, rather than specific solutions will be focused on.
Dr. Chunming Qiao is a professor at SUNY Buffalo, directing the Lab for Advanced Network Design, Analysis, and Research (LANDER), which conducts cutting-edge research work on optical networks, wireless networks, survivable networks, and TCP/IP technologies. His research is focused on Optical Internet, integrated cellular and ad hoc relaying systems.Dr. Qiao graduated in 1985 from USTC and obtained Ph.D. degree from University of Pittsburgh in 1993.
